I had to take a little break to put together a big proposal on the fly, but I’ve been dying to get back to my CSS wrapup.
Today I finally got to look at positioning again and I decided to create a fixed header for my form.
I used relative positioning to push the container down to avoid overlap (given that fixed positioning removes an element from the usual document flow) and, given that I have floated elements in the rest of the doc, I used z-index to ensure that the header remained on top of the rest of the site content.
I also made some adjustments to the media queries to handle the layout when the header text wraps on smaller screens and I tweaked the structure of the submit page to make sure that the rules applied identically.
