I suppose I should thank my daughter for the fact that I got to spend a good portion of today’s session hunting for delicious images of cake. (I can also thank her for the birthday cake sitting in my refrigerator, which comes in handy after spending the best part of an hour trolling free stock photo sites for cake pics, but that’s beside the point. 😂)
Today, I built out the second section of the homepage and added the the little styling touches that bring them into alignment with the site on which I’m basing this build.
Today’s biggest challenge came with the overlapping text and images in the new section. I knew I’d be doing essentially what I did yesterday to create the banner (which consists of an image on top of a video), but it took a little bit to figure out exactly how to structure it without breaking the flexbox positioning. Once I did, I spent the rest of the time tweaking to bring it more into alignment with the source site, from deciding how many cake pictures to include to adding the necessary hover effects.

Tomorrow: the third section of the site, which looks to require a fixed background image to get the cool scroll effect of the preceding and succeeding sections.
