There’s nothing like finding the perfect pic for a project. Sometimes it’s hard to describe, but you know it when you see it. Because this project is for production company that does theatre, film and dance productions, I’ve been trying to hew to that theme, starting with the red curtains on the homepage and linking through the stage shot on the About Us page and now the gorgeous external shot I found today for the News page.
I was looking for a theatre marquee, which is a simple thing that becomes complicated when you’re limited to free stock sites. I have a pretty good list of free stock sites, though, so I’m usually able to find something awesome, even if it isn’t what I initially envisioned.
What I found today was better than I envisioned (thanks to Clay Royandoyan on Unsplash) and it looks gorgeous as the banner on the new page.
Aside from framing out this page, I spent some more time refactoring, changing ids to classes where I was reusing styling and making sure I didn’t break the existing pages.

Up tomorrow: the portfolio page, which is going to be a bit of heavy lifting, considering that I’m basically scouring a FB page for content at this point.
